Spirituality: An Invitation to be Still Throughout the Season
Have you ever read something that makes you stop and pause for a minute? Well, the intention for the next four seasons is to do just that, although I hope you pause for more than a minute. I invite you to join me in reconnecting with your spirit in a more intentional way.
Spirituality is often perceived in many ways. For some, it is a connection with God, the universe or yourself. Whatever the case, there is no right or wrong way when it comes to spirituality. In spirituality, your way is the right way. Learning to connect intentionally to that inner voice, that gut feeling, without being attached to the outcomes, is what allows the spirit to move through you.
It is important to pay attention to your experiences, and the best way to do this is by journaling. It does not matter if your experiences are positive or negative, because journaling is different from keeping a diary. In a diary one usually tracks events in the day, but journaling requires you to hold a question when you are writing. For example, what is the question that is absorbing you today? What is the question that is making you lose sleep? Holding a question for the day, week, or month is a quick way to get a CAT Scan of the people, needs and wants in your life. Journaling helps you recognize the blind spots. It also helps you become more focused, clear, open, intentional and aware.
Here are a few quick steps to get you started:
- Buy or create your journal
- Find a quiet cozy space
- Sit quietly for a couple of minutes
- Ask yourself “What’s on my mind?”
- Write, Write, Write
In the end, journaling creates more balance in your life. So as you watch the seasons change from the cold dark winter months to the warmth of spring, I invite you to change your season by journaling with intention.
